BEING HIRED BY FRIENDS IS THE BEST FEELING EVER! I met Vani + Billy a few years ago and if you think you know a couple with a social life, multiply that by one hundred and now you're starting to see a picture of Vani + Billy's relationship. These two are always up for any adventure and challenge. I've been lucky enough to be on a few of these adventures with them. They've taken me rock climbing, included me in Craft (a community roots art festival highlighting local Black, Indigenous, brown, self-identified artists of color by celebrating their authentic expressions of art) I'll put a link to this below, showed me around Pittsburgh while Vani completes her robotics grad schooling and also eating. If you know them, they will feed you. Anyway, back to wedding day. I love when a wedding truly reflects the couple and this day started with Vani waking up late and having soaking wet hair when I arrived for sunrise photos lolz. I met them at Adventure Lodge in Boulder where they and their families from out of state resided for the weekend. We did sunrise photos so Gus dog could be a part of it, since he isn't allowed at the national park.

Soon after it became an appropriate time to be awake and alert for the day and the couple and their families got ready at A lodge. The couple got ready together which I think is one of the most romantic modern wedding day choices. Billy was there to strap on Vani's shoes, Vani was there to help Billy with his suspenders and Gus was there too. ROMANCE. Vani had her mother and grandmother help with jewelry.

Rocky Mountain National Park requires a permit for weddings (please follow this rule, the application process is simple). We made our way to Sprague Lake within Rocky Mountain National Park where we met their wedding guests. Vani's mother officiated and I cried behind the camera, as I always do. They exchanged personal vows and rings on this sunny afternoon.

It's always important to carve out time for couples portraits on your wedding day. Your wedding planner will agree and add this in your timeline anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. On elopement and micro wedding days I am usually your planner too and will make sure this happens. We parted ways with the family and spent about 30 minutes focusing on just Vani + Billy. These are the pictures that will be hanging in your home and passed on for generations. It's worth the small amount of time away from your party on wedding day to focus on your couples portraits.

Now it's party time back in Boulder:

In the sate of Colorado you do not need an officiant or witnesses to get legally married which is why eloping in Colorado is the easiest thing in the world. That being said, it's perfectly legal to have your dog sign as your witness.

Okay, back to the party.

The next day they had wedding 'rings' tattooed on their fingers by our friend Cori.

Love you! Happy marriage! Thanks for bringing me along :)
